Denise 1.9 was discontinued in 2015 when NextOS.ai had the great opportunity to work full-time developing human-like Robots with the company Realbotix.com. After six years working side to side on research and development, we have released several versions of our Human-Like Robots and improved the AI applications which controls them. Today, Realbotix Robots are all around the world, performing as nurses, receptionist, companions and helping people and companies in especial projects. Today, NextOS has the resources and knowledge to resume working on our Digital Assistants platforms.
Denise Legacy is a fresh new start. It will not come with all the modules and features of the Denise 1.9. We’ve decided to first update all Denise’s modules source code by using newer and modern programming tools, and have the Legacy as an AI graphical conversation Framework, offering users all the tools necessary to customize both the AI content and the realistic talking Avatars. With the help of the community, we hope to create various add-ons, plugins and APIs to connect Denise to third-party services like Amazon, IBM, Google, OpenAI and Apple Cognitive and home-automation platforms.
Denise Legacy comes with the 1.9 main modules. Those are the AI Chat system, the best offline Speech Recognition engine, a human-like female TTS voice, many new beautiful and realistic Avatars, and we have added two new important modules: the Content Editor and the Avatar Studio. The Content Editor will allow users to create, add and edit their content to the existing AI. With the Avatar Studio, users will be able to create their own custom realistic Avatars with no previous 3D edition knowledge.
Denise Legacy does not come with many modules from Denise 1.9. Among them are e-mail system, local and web searches, schedule and calendar, Wikipedia search, contacts, facial recognition, media player, and translator. Those modules will be gradually added to the Legacy version, as we are updating them with all new cloud services available today. As we have mentioned above, we are integrating this new Legacy version with cloud services like Google Mail and Calendar, Spotify, Social Media platforms, third-party Cognitive Services, IFTTT automation service, macro recorders among others.
Think of Denise Legacy as a framework for users to add their own plug-ins or create new services and macros. Just like the Arduino circuit board where users can create all types of electronic devices, this Legacy version has the goal to become “the” AI and Graphical platform to build a valuable, beautiful, and futuristic human-machine interface.

Denise Legacy brings the same graphic engine from the original version. It’s a proprietary engine developed by NextOS which can show ultra-realistic human-like Avatars. For now, we are using PayPal as the payment merchant, and we understand not everyone can complete the purchase, or get the message “Sorry, we couldn’t set up your subscription using the payment method you selected. Please try another payment method.” We will include other payment methods in the next few days. We will honor the especial release price for you.
Yes, but the Speech Recognition system will work only in one of the two versions. You can make this decision when installing Denise Legacy.
Before installing Denise Legacy, please disable any Antivirus and Firewall software, like Norton, AVG, McAfee, or Kaspersky. You may be able to install Denise with those enabled, but this will vary from computer to computer and Windows versions.
If you want to install Denise Legacy in a computer inside a protected local area network, this computer must have full access to the Internet to install and run Denise Legacy. We are already working on a Proxy configuration tool to make this process easier.
Just after you purchase a license or subscription for Denise Legacy, you will receive an e-mail with a link to download a small application called Instal.exe. Right-click on this file and choose “Run as Administrator” to download all files necessary for her full installation. Windows will probably ask if you give permission for this file to run, as it is an executable file. Clicking on the file Install.exe will open a window asking for your e-mail address. Please use exactly the same e-mail address you have used at the moment of your purchase using PayPal or other payment options.
If Windows shows you a warning Message Window to allow or block Denise Legacy, please click “Allow.” Also, Windows Firewall can show you other warning messages. Please always click on the “Allow” or “Unblock” options. Denise Legacy is totally malware and virus-free, but these messages may appear as a false positive because it’s an executable file.
The installation process can take 20 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your Internet access connection speed. Please don’t interrupt this download process, even if the download window seems to be frozen or not responding. Also, avoid running any other application at the same time.
TIP: If you are under Windows Vista, XP or Windows 7, there is a protection system called UAC (User Account Control) that can try to block the execution of Denise Legacy. If Windows shows you a message to Allow Denise Legacy’s application, please do so.
Although modern notebooks come with a good microphone system, it’s recommended that you have a good external microphone. We do not recommend embedded notebooks microphones or web camera microphones. They are not built for speech recognition and may get a lot of ambient and background noise.
You must check if your microphone and speakers are turned on and correctly configured. (Not too loud or not too quiet)
An easy way of doing that is from your Windows Start menu; choose “Control Panel” and “Sound” (or “Hardware and Sounds”)
In the window that opens, you have a “Playback” and a “Recording” tab. After installing Denise, the Speech Recognition system will also test your sound system quality.
It is vital that you don’t have too much ambient or background noise while using Denise Legacy with Voice Recognition. This noise can come from background music, TV’s, radios, air conditioners, and other people talking.

A computer running Windows XP, Vista, 7, 10 or 11. Denise runs well in netbooks, but if you have a faster computer, Denise will show better animations, faster Speech Recognition and the Avatars will show a much better lip-syncing while talking.
Although we receive many requests from users to purchase the original Virtual Assistant Denise 1.9, this version will not be available anymore. We genuinely believe Denise Legacy is the future. We will focus all our efforts on its development and improvement with the help of the community.
Yes. Denise 1.9 will stop working in 2023.
English, but being a Framework, it will not be difficult to translate and localize both Denise’s Interface and the AI content to any other language. As we improve and add more third-party services to Denise Legacy, it will soon be possible to use Speech Recognition and Text to Speech services in all languages currently offered by companies like Microsoft, IBM, Amazon AWS etc.
